We currently have a great opportunity available for a Product Marketing Sr. Director. Responsible for leading Sysmex America Inc. (SAI) Product Marketing activities, product management and marketing of product lines throughout their life cycle. The activities include supporting R&D in product development phases as required, launch of new products to Sysmex America markets, ongoing product maintenance through to obsolescence and discontinuation.


This position is responsible for leading the teams that will contribute to increased sales through the strategic planning and tactical execution of activities that support SAI sales efforts and increase market awareness of Sysmex product lines for hematology, urinalysis, software services and Flow Cytometry.


The position is responsible for leading the team in creating best of breed sales and marketing programs in conjunction with the marketing communications and sales departments at SAI to achieve all business targets and midterm plans. The Senior Director will lead activities to develop a core of knowledge and understanding of Sysmex Products and technology within the Product Marketing Group. In addition they will lead the team in developing competitive analysis and market awareness to support all marketing and sales activities.

The Senior Director of Product Marketing will foster communications and collaborate with all departments, all Marketing departments (Marketing Communications), Sales, Sales Training, Quality Assurance/Scientific Affairs, Regulatory, Steering Committee and the parent company Sysmex Corporation.


The individual will demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to lead and manage a team of product marketing personnel and manage a diverse product portfolio within defines timelines to meet departmental and business goals and objectives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Day to day management and oversight of Product Management Group, working closely with the product management group on all activities to effectively manage the Sysmex product portfolio.
  2. Internal and external leader and champion for all product lines, Hematology, Urinalysis, software services, Automation and Flow Cytometry Marketing, communicating with Sysmex America leadership team and the sales leadership group on product management related activities as appropriate.
  3. Leading the marketing team in developing sales and marketing strategies and anti-competitive plans to meet Sysmex America financial targets and objectives.
  4. Working with the product management group develop sales tools, product launch information, white papers and technical working in conjunction with Marketing Communications and Scientific Affairs as appropriate.
  5. Provide feedback to Sysmex Corporation R&D and Business Units on customer requirements and market needs to assist the product development process as required.
  6. Provide and update business management teams within Sysmex America and Sysmex Corporation on environmental changes within SAI’s served markets and to provide competitive updates.
  7. Direct and plan product launch activities and to manage full product life cycle for all Sysmex product lines sold and or distributed by Sysmex America Inc. Providing Sysmex product expertise to Sysmex Technical and Applications teams to ensure ongoing product support in the field.
  8. Lead and support product management group in all product launches, providing direction and guidance to team and working with cross functional leaders to introduce new products into the marketplace.
  9. Personnel management and development of Product management group.
  10. Other responsibilities as required.

Travel Percentage: 25%

Physical Risk: Regular exposure to risk that may require alertness, but with minimal precautions.

Physical Demands: Light physical effort.  Routine handling of objects up to 20 pounds; prolonged (at least 50% of time) sitting, standing, keyboard or CRT work.  May require periods of moderate discomfort due to noise, dust, lighting and/or other conditions.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Biological Science or Physical Science preferred. Previous experience in IVD Marketing desired. Master’s degree with a specialization in Business Administration preferred.
  • 15 -20 years of experience with proven business-to-business marketing and excellent team and people management experience. Knowledge of the clinical laboratory a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • MS Office, including advanced Powerpoint skills and graphics programs a plus.
  • Ability to develop goals and strategies, negotiate, vendor relationship and strategic alliances, work effectively in a changing environment and a proven track record of people management and development.
  • Ability to solve complex marketing problems, including integration of marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to develop grow and develop high performing teams.
